The habit of saying thank you is the mark of an educated man or woman.
1. Dissect and Question
I would dissect this quote by saying that thank you is an educated word.
2. Respond to the quote - stay focused on the quote - answer the questions that you raised.
In my responds, I would agree with this quote. I would agree with this quote because saying thank you is one of the respectful ways of telling someone, especially to an adult.
3. Make connections between the quote and the outside world: your life, literature, world events.
I would make connections because this already happened to me ones. I did not sayed thank you, and they told me that I was not an educated girl, so after that happened I realize that it was bad not saying thank you to some one.

[summary]
This story is about this girl named Beth. She got married with this man named Sam. She finally thought that she was going to live happy, but apparently she was wrong because Sam gave her a horrible life. He always use to hit her every time, specially when he was drunk. There was one time that she had it, so she decided to go to the doctor. They told her that she was pregnant, but they also told her that the baby was in trouble. The doctor told her that if her husband was hitting her. She told the doctor that Sam did hit her. Finally everything went OK. It was time for her to delivered. They name the baby Matt, but he was not breathing when he was born, and it took several minutes for them to get him started. She couldn't deliver a baby larger than five pounds, Matt was seven pounds three ounces at birth. Matt was born on February 8, 1967, she only missed five days of work.
[opinion]
In my opinion to this book, I think that Beth did the right decision because some people would not have the baby they would give him in abortion. I also think that this story is really sad, but I really like it is really interesting.

Journal #1

In my opinion I think that west means that it takes alot of courage to stand up for something. That you have to be brave or have the valor to become nonconformist. That could also show that you are independed and could do many thing by your self. I also think that having enemies may happen, but they would never learn to be against the grain only being with the grain.
2.What do you respond to this quote? Explain.
In my opinion I will agree with him. I will agree with him in many different ways. For example I agree when he said that it takes courage to cut against the grain because that is really true for all of us. I also think that courage will and could help you do many things you never imagin.
